Specific Training Sessions

Many series of day seminars and conferences have been held in the past 5 years, including:
  • Housing Benefit Seminars

  • HAMA & The Housing Bill Seminar - Making use of the Private Sector

  • Housing Management

  • Development/Procurement/New Initiatives Conference

  • Housing Act 1996
The need has been recognised from Adviceline, feed-back from delegates who have attended previous conferences, discussions with the Housing Corporation and other sources.

It has been noticed that targetting smaller events, cross country spread over the year have proven of greater benefit to delegates to raise specific problems.


National Conference

The annual conferences have proven to be successful with morning and afternoon plenary sessions setting out the facts and theory and smaller workshop sessions designed to meet specific needs and generated informal discussions for day to day related issues such handbacks, legal, finance, housing benefit changes, new initiatives and good practice.

There is still a lack of specific training events available for staff involved in the private sector, and this has been one of the key features that the Consultancy is continuing to address through feedback from seminar/conferences.

In-House Training

Full- or half-day in-house training events can be organised to meet your needs. Principal Consultants can provide training on a broad range of topics concernings temporary accommodation and the use of the private rented sector. Full-day topics can include:

  • Setting up a scheme : From first principles to finance

  • Managing the tenants and managing the landlords

  • Procurement in practice

  • Options for change

In-house sessions work best in a group of up to 15 people, affording participants the maximum opportunity to discuss ideas and opinions.
